Eat That Frog! is one of those books that is related to my 2020 goals. I, like so many people, am guilty of procrastinating tasks – especially ones that make me nervous. The problem is that sometimes the tasks that make me nervous also matter to me and so I want to get them done. 🙈
Something that has helped me curb my procrastination habit is doing the task that I least want to do first thing in the morning! This is called “eating the frog” based on an old Mark Twain quote.
So, when I spotted this audiobook available through the library, I thought it was fate and hopped on it! Overall, I think the author, Brian Tracy, shares some wisdom that is helpful and encouraging. The book is incredibly practical — he lists 21 different VERY tactical ways to increase productivity. While most of them didn’t blow my mind, some really help me to reframe how I want to tackle goals.
However, I do think the book is overly prescriptive. I believe that productivity and goal-setting is personal, so a one-size fits model doesn’t always work. This book doesn’t acknowledge that and presents a relatively rigid one-size fits all approach that leaves little room for those who may want to adapt certain strategies.
If you are struggling with productivity and procrastination, though, and you want a good, kind kick-in-the-butt, I recommend this one!
